- DDU: Dumont d'Urville, name of the explorer who discovered the territory Terre Adelie in Antarctica, and now the name of the base.
- R0, R1, R2, R3, R4: Boat rotations between Hobart (Tasmania) and DDU, 5 times per summer.
- Astrolabe: Name of Dumont d'Urville's boat at the time he discovered Terre Adelie, and now name of the boat doing the rotations.
- Biomar: office for the biologists in DDU
- VSC: Volontaire de Service Civique, the status I have to work there, also called VCAT (previous name)
